🔍 Key Discussion Points
🌸 What is Perimenopause — and Why Does It Matter?
Many people still believe perimenopause is simply another word for menopause.
Fiona clearly explains that it is a distinct and often misunderstood phase, with its own symptoms, timelines and challenges.
Understanding this stage empowers women to:
Recognise early signs
Seek appropriate support
Feel validated, not confused
This knowledge is not just helpful — it is essential.

💊 Hormone-Free Treatments — Progress or Pause?
With new hormone-free medications for hot flushes entering the conversation, Fiona offers a balanced and informed perspective.
She explores:
Who these treatments may benefit
How they compare with existing options
Why informed, individual choice is key
This is about empowering women with options, understanding and confidence.

💭 Looking Back — Advice to a Younger Self
One of the most powerful moments of the conversation.
Fiona reflects on what she would say to her younger self when symptoms first appeared but didn’t yet make sense.
Her message is clear:

Thursday Apr 02, 2026
Welcome to this week’s 1230 TWC Business Beat Radio Show, where we had three fantastic guests in the studio bringing very different experiences, stories and business insights.
Today’s guests:
Linda Whiteley – Wildlife SOS Charity
Rebecca Robertson – Wealth Coach & Independent Financial Adviser
Carole Pyke – Personal Branding Expert & MC
It was a great show with conversations covering wildlife conservation, financial independence, running businesses, personal growth and personal branding.
________________________________________
Linda Whiteley – Wildlife SOS Charity
Conservation, Purpose and Finding Joy in Your Work
About Linda Whiteley
Linda Whiteley is the UK Manager of Wildlife SOS, a highly respected wildlife conservation charity. Linda brings passion, energy and first-hand experience to her work in the charity sector.
Her journey with Wildlife SOS began in 2001 with a visit to Delhi and deepened in 2024 when she volunteered at wildlife sanctuaries in Agra, working with elephants and sloth bears while also helping to raise the charity’s profile in the UK.
Born in Ireland, Linda has built a purpose-driven career in the not-for-profit sector. She describes herself as a positive and grateful person, and alongside her charity work she is a proud mother, keen runner and six-time marathon runner who enjoys fundraising for wildlife causes.
Discussion Topics
We talked about:
Does Wildlife SOS only help animals?
What does the charity actually do?
Is it possible to visit Wildlife SOS?
Can people volunteer or help in some way?
How businesses and individuals can support conservation work
It was fascinating to learn that Wildlife SOS not only rescues and rehabilitates animals but also works with communities, education programmes and conservation projects to create long-term change.
Linda’s Business & Life Tip
Linda shared a wonderful piece of advice:
When you truly believe in what you do, it shows in your passion, your engagement and your credibility.
Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself. If you’ve outgrown where you are or your work no longer brings you joy, change direction. Keep going until you find your joy. It is never too late.
A great reminder that careers and businesses evolve, and sometimes the bravest decision is to change direction.

Journalism, Artificial Intelligence, Print Media & Opportunities - Episode 157
Thursday Mar 26, 2026
Thursday Mar 26, 2026
Charlotte Toller is a third-year journalism student at the University of Roehampton in West London. She lives in Orpington and already has impressive real-world experience alongside her studies. Charlotte works as a shift and social media manager in her local pub and is currently undertaking a work placement as an editorial and social media assistant with the Life In… magazines.
Charlotte represents the next generation entering media, journalism and communications — and she brought a really interesting discussion to the show around Artificial Intelligence and the future of media and business.
Artificial Intelligence – Threat or Tool?
We discussed whether AI is something that will replace jobs, particularly in media and journalism, or whether it is actually a tool that businesses and media professionals can use to improve productivity, creativity and efficiency.
The conclusion was clear — AI is a tool, not a replacement for human personality, creativity, relationships and storytelling. Businesses that learn how to use AI alongside their skills will have a real advantage.
Print Journalism Is Not Dead
Another really important discussion point was print journalism. Despite the digital world, print magazines and newspapers are still circulating and are still widely considered the most trusted form of journalism. Print gives credibility, longevity and local visibility that social media alone cannot always achieve.
Charlotte’s Top Tip for Business
Do not put all your eggs in one basket.
Use:
Print advertising
Social media
Networking
Word of mouth
Community connections
Marketing works best when these are combined, not used in isolation.
Charlotte also shared a great lesson from being at the start of her career — say yes to opportunities. Every opportunity builds experience, confidence and connections.

Nikki Jewitt
Single Mum Life, Crohn’s, IBS, ADHD, Cleaning Business & Virtual PA Work
Nikki shared a very honest and powerful story about balancing work, parenting and health challenges while running her own small businesses.
Nikki is a single mum who lives with Crohn’s, IBS and ADHD, all of which are often described as invisible illnesses because people cannot always see the daily challenges someone is managing.
Despite this, Nikki:
Cleans houses
Runs virtual PA work
Raises her son
Manages her health
Keeps moving forward
Her story was not about perfection — it was about resilience, honesty and determination.
Invisible Illnesses – What People Don’t See
One of the most important parts of Nikki’s conversation was explaining that people often don’t understand invisible illnesses. Just because someone looks fine does not mean they are not dealing with daily health challenges, fatigue, pain or mental load.
Her story was a reminder to all of us:
Be kind. Be patient. You never know what someone is managing behind the scenes.
Nikki’s Advice for Starting a Business
Nikki shared a brilliant piece of advice:
Don’t wait until everything is perfect. Start small, be reliable, be honest and grow.
This is exactly how many successful businesses begin — small steps, consistency and reliability.

🚀 Guest Spotlight: Karen Burke
Founder of Go Goosey | Recruitment Consultant | Entrepreneur
About Karen Burke
Karen Burke is a Recruitment Consultant, entrepreneur, and proud single mum.
In 2015 she adopted her daughter at the age of two after previously going through IVF — a journey that ultimately inspired her to launch her own business.
Karen is the founder of Go Goosey, a brand specialising in quick-dry children’s onesies designed to simplify the drying and dressing process after swimming.
The idea came after Karen’s first swimming trip with her daughter, when she realised how stressful and chaotic it could be trying to dry and dress a young child quickly.

Outside of work and business, Karen enjoys:
Pilates
walking
dining out
hosting friends for dinner

🌟 A Warm Welcome to Our Guests and Listeners
A huge welcome to all our fabulous listeners joining us today — wherever you are tuning in from.
And I’m delighted to introduce our inspiring guests:
Rosemary Cunningham
Amy Mitchell
Two remarkable women with powerful stories about resilience, purpose and creating opportunities in business and life.
________________________________________
✈️ Rosemary Cunningham
Empowering Women to Create Choice Through Travel and Business
Rosemary Cunningham is a warm, down-to-earth solo traveller, money and business mentor, and a self-confessed lover of trees, dogs and cats.
Her career journey has been wonderfully diverse. Rosemary has worked as:
A nurse
A complementary therapist
A money and business coach
And now a travel business mentor
Through every chapter, one passion has remained constant: helping women create choices in their lives.
Rosemary believes deeply that women should be able to:
Trust their gifts
Charge what they are worth
Build sustainable income streams
Thrive without burnout
Why Travel Matters
Travel has been a transformative force in Rosemary’s life. For her, it is not just about visiting beautiful places — it is about expanding perspectives and possibilities.
Travel teaches us to:
step outside our comfort zones
see life through different lenses
reconnect with ourselves and nature
It creates space to think, dream and reimagine what our lives and businesses could look like.
Sharing the Experience
Rosemary is passionate about helping other women experience the same sense of freedom and discovery.
She is currently planning incredible retreat experiences with colleagues in destinations including:
Costa Rica
Arizona
Hawaii
These retreats, planned for 2026, 2027 and beyond, will combine travel, personal growth, and business development — creating powerful opportunities for women to reconnect with their ambitions and their wellbeing.
Looking Ahead
Rosemary believes that the next decade will bring huge changes in how we work and build businesses.
More people are seeking:
flexibility
meaning
multiple income streams
lifestyle-led businesses
And women, in particular, are redefining success on their own terms.

💪 Amy Mitchell
Courage, Entrepreneurship and Finding Strength Through Adversity
Our second guest today is Amy Mitchell, founder and co-director of the wonderful Ollie Polly Play Café in West Wickham.
Amy is also a wife, a mum of two girls, and someone with an incredibly impressive professional background.
She holds a behavioural psychology degree from Cambridge and has over 15 years’ experience working in events and team management across the film, media and fashion industries.
Amy’s journey into entrepreneurship has been both inspiring and deeply personal.
Turning Challenge into Purpose
Amy was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) and an inoperable meningioma.
Rather than allowing these challenges to define her future, Amy has chosen to use her experience to support and uplift others.
Through her business, her voice and her positivity, she now encourages other women — particularly entrepreneurs and parents — to believe in their own potential.
Her message is powerful:
Don’t give up on your daydream.
You might be exactly what the world is looking for.
But the key is putting yourself out there.
Brain Tumour Awareness
March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month, and Amy is helping to highlight the important work of the Brain Tumour Research charity.
One key campaign is Wear A Hat Day on 27 March, raising both awareness and vital funds for research.
It’s a simple but powerful way for individuals and businesses to show their support.
Business Courage
Amy’s entrepreneurial mindset is summed up perfectly by the idea of:
“Feel the fear and do it anyway.”
Opportunities rarely arrive fully formed. Often they appear when preparation meets courage.
As the saying goes:
“Opportunity favours the prepared mind.”
________________________________________
🐢 Business Tip of the Week
Amy shared a wonderfully honest and relatable business tip.
Sometimes progress feels slow.
Sometimes it feels like…
“A tortoise stampeding through peanut butter.”
But even when progress feels messy or slow, you are still moving forward.
And if you are moving forward, you are already ahead of everyone still sitting on the sofa deciding whether to begin.
The message?
Keep going.

🎧 Conversation Highlights
In today’s conversation, we explore some incredibly relevant themes for modern businesses, including:
🔹 Rebuilding for Relevance
Rebuilding the KoffeeKlatch website wasn’t just about a fresh look. It involved:
Deciding who the site is really for
Choosing what to leave out
Designing for a world increasingly shaped by AI, not just aesthetics
🔹 The Hidden Impact of Political Decisions
Political and regulatory decisions increasingly influence:
Data privacy
Data security
AI tools and online systems
Small businesses often feel these changes first, and without warning.
💡 Key Takeaway
If your website, contracts, or systems were set up pre-AI, they may no longer reflect the risks and responsibilities you now carry.
